personas en el mundo sigue sin acceso a agua potable, la mitad de la poblaci\u00f3n global no dispone de ba\u00f1os con sistema de saneamiento adecuado, y las lentas mejoras no impedir\u00e1n que miles de millones sigan teniendo estas carencias a finales de esta d\u00e9cada, denuncia hoy Naciones Unidas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un nuevo informe sobre agua, saneamiento e higiene elaborado por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y el Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF) advierte que no se va a conseguir el objetivo de universalizar estas necesidades b\u00e1sicas en 2030, uno de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible establecidos por la ONU.<\/p>\n<div>El estudio muestra que 2.000 millones de personas, una de cada cuatro,\u00a0carecen de un suministro de agua seguro, la mitad (3.600 millones) no tienen servicios con tratamiento de residuos, y un tercio (2.300 millones) no tiene acceso a instalaciones de higiene b\u00e1sica.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esto \u00faltimo hizo que en 2020, el a\u00f1o en el que comenz\u00f3 la pandemia y en el que la higiene de manos fue considerada una de las herramientas clave para prevenir infecciones, tres de cada 10 personas no pudieran siquiera lav\u00e1rselas con agua y jab\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66740 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/reporteroshoy.mx\/noticias\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Sin-agua.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>La higiene, fundamental para frenar futuras pandemias<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cInvertir en agua, servicios de saneamiento y de higiene, debe convertirse en una prioridad global si queremos terminar con esta pandemia y construir sistemas sanitarios m\u00e1s fuertes\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 hoy, al presentarse el informe, el director general de la OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El acceso a estos servicios b\u00e1sicos est\u00e1 progresando en el mundo, pero a un\u00a0ritmo excesivamente lento, denuncian la OMS y UNICEF, que estiman que el porcentaje de personas con estas carencias s\u00f3lo disminuye un punto porcentual anual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si contin\u00faa esa pauta, en 2030, a\u00f1o clave para medir si los objetivos de desarrollo de Naciones Unidas se han cumplido, todav\u00eda habr\u00e1 1.600 millones de personas sin agua potable y 1.900 millones sin instalaciones higi\u00e9nicas (una de cada cinco), mientras un tercio del total, 2.800 millones,\u00a0carecer\u00e1n de servicios sanitarios b\u00e1sicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dadas estas previsiones, las agencias de Naciones Unidas hicieron hoy un llamamiento a acelerar la implantaci\u00f3n de estos servicios b\u00e1sicos en zonas donde a\u00fan no los tienen, que debe hacerse a un ritmo cuatro veces mayor del actual si el mundo quiere acercarse a los objetivos para 2030.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEs el momento de acelerar dram\u00e1ticamente nuestros esfuerzos para facilitar que cada ni\u00f1o, cada familia, tenga cubiertas sus necesidades m\u00e1s b\u00e1sicas en materia de salud y bienestar, lo que incluye protegerles de enfermedades infecciosas como la COVID-19\u201d, subray\u00f3 la directora ejecutiva de UNICEF, Henrietta Fore.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Progresos demasiado lentos<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo est\u00e1bamos progresando suficientemente r\u00e1pido\u201d, advierte el informe, que se\u00f1ala que el esfuerzo a\u00fan debe incrementarse m\u00e1s en las econom\u00edas menos desarrolladas y ser hasta 10 veces mayor al actualmente llevado a cabo.<\/p>\n<div>El informe destaca por otro lado que un 80 % de las personas que carecen de estos servicios b\u00e1sicos viven en zonas rurales.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El \u00c1frica Subsahariana es la regi\u00f3n con mayores carencias, ya que\u00a0s\u00f3lo un 54 % de su poblaci\u00f3n tiene acceso a agua potable, porcentaje que baja al 25 % en zonas que la ONU denomina \u201ccontextos fr\u00e1giles\u201d, tales como \u00e1reas en
